It's Official, He's a Triathlete!!

This weekend Chris was able to accomplish his longtime goal of competing in a triathalon. It was the Toyota Desert Triathalon in La Quinta (Palm Springs), CA. He did awesome for a first timer. He finished in at 2:25. (Full Results)

Seconds before the race started in a sea of blue caps.

The transition from water to the bike area. I was really bad with the camera and for the rest of the day when it wasn't recording I thought it was and vice versa. So this is about the only video we got:(

On the Bike

On the bike.

Coming in for the finish!

We're so proud of you Daddy!

Down & Derby

Saturday night was the Pinewood Derby for Sam. We told him he could make his car into anything he wanted-he chose a Dialga from the new Gameboy game Pokemon Diamond. What a challenge! But Sam was excited about it (and that is rare:).

Sam & Dad working on the car in their garage "workshop". Dad helped with carving and assembly, mom helped with the painting.

The end result- Pokemon Dialga

The race is on! It looked pretty cool going down the track.

Was it a winner? In Sam's book it was. He won for Most Creative.

Wicked!

Saturday Sophie , Lainey , Rachel and I went to see the Broadway musical, Wicked! If you ever want to see a show, this is the one you need to see. The cast was incredible, the music, the story just so good. And it was both Rachel and Lainey's first show! They just loved it. We had such a fun girl's night out.

Sophie is 7!!

Sophie turned 7 today and we celebrated by having a girl's day out with friends. Sophie and her friends Chloe, Sara Jayne, and Lainey and my friends Jane and Rachel and I went up to Los Angeles for a day at the American Girl store!

The store is one of three in world(Chicago and NY). It's at the Grove in L.A. , an upscale outdoor shopping center. It was the most beautiful warm day and they had a lovely fountain where all the girls made a wish. All of the girls brought their dolls. Each one is from a different era in history. Sophie's is Elizabeth from 1774. They have books that teach you about that era and each doll has a big display ( that includes everything you can purchase, of course).

They sang "Happy Birthday" to Sophie after we the at the Cheesecake Factory.

I think the moms had just as much fun as the girls (if not more!). It was a really exciting day.

The girls and their "haul". There was also a doll hair salon, a photo studio, Cafe, and Theater with a live show. Maybe next time...

Later we came home for pizza, cake, and presents.

Opening gifts from Spain (from Papa & Maki)....

And fun things from Grandma & Grandpa Roberts....

This is one happy 7 year old!

Easter Sunday

We had such a nice mellow Easter. It's the first time in years that we didn't have anybody over! Chris took the kids on a little hike before church and even though it was just us, we still had a yummy ham dinner.

Chris and Maggie admiring our new garden! We have peas, carrots, beans, squash, watermelon and pumpkin. Things are growing so fast! It's exciting. We'll keep you posted on how everything turn out:).
