Father's Day Weekend

We spent this last weekend on a trip to St. George to help move my brother Matt. We packed up and left on Friday night and stayed and hung out until Sunday night. It's always nice to be in St. George (even though it was 106!) and see all the new things being built and spend some time with my family. We think this will be a great move for Matty, change is good!

Chris had a nice Father's Day with a few gifts, store bought and handmade from the kids. Thank you Chris for being such a great father and husband, we love you!!

Sam's Gold Rush Town Day

The 4th Grade has been studying California history this year. And they have been learning about the California Gold Rush. So they had a town day where everybody needed to dress the part and sell something appropriate to the times. They used gold nuggets (beans painted gold) as payment and were able to sell and shop for the day.

Sam sold fruit leather in the form of fruit rolls. He had his friend Seth that was intent on selling pie and a classmate Kyle who sold root beer floats?. Their store was called SKS Merchantile (their initials).

It really was fun. I stayed and hung out for a couple of hours and was able to take Sophie out of class so she could enjoy it too. She got her nails done in true O.C. cowgirl style.

The top selling item? Soda pop! It was a hot day. When Sophie does this I think we will sell ice cold water. Someone was also making old time photos. They had their computer, digital camera on tripod and a printer. Amazing. They take your picture and digitally stick your head on an old fashioned picture. It was so funny.

Our Beautiful Sedona Trip!

What a trip! Chris' parents invited the whole family to Sedona, AZ for a wonderful week of fun in the sun. The kids had loved being with cousins, and hiking and swimming every day. It was heaven. Thank you mom and dad!!

Our first day hike was to Call of the Canyon. We hiked to the creek where there were water holes and slippery rocks to slide on. Sophie wanted to capture every living thing around. Here she is with Maggie trying to catch tadpoles.
She's got a watersnake!

Having fun sliding down the rock.

Our second day hike took us to Red Rock Park....

Where Sophie captured a dragonfly.

Can you find Maggie in this picture?

Next, Sophie catches a frog and doesn't want to let it go. She was really in her element on this trip.

Next day took us to Sliding Rock. Another awesome waterhole/slides.....

Where Chris takes a leap!

Later that day we took a famous Pink Jeep Tour. We went on the Broken Arrow trail and expored back county Sedona. Absolutely breathtaking views and an awesome bumpy ride.
This is our Jeep with our nice tourguide:

Taking a break and blowing in the wind.

Sam took off running on the mesa.

A family picture- the red rock is from iron oxide in the water that used to cover the area.

Our next hike was up to Devil's Bridge. A truly spectacular natural bridge.

Sisters on the hike.

My family on the bridge-it was hard to watch!

Sam and Sophie's most anticipated part of the trip-playing Bingo with Grandma and Grandpa.

Picture day! We hiked back to Crescent Moon for some family pictures. They turned out great! Love this one of Maggie and Chris.

The kids with their beautiful Grandparents.

The Ron & Jan Roberts family

It was Chris' birthday on June 7th. Ron & Jan took the whole lot of us to dinner at Oaxaca mexican restaurant. Then they gave Chris their gift-a brass rat! His beloved MIT school ring that was stolen a few years back. He was shocked and thrilled! Thank you, thank you!!

He is 36!

Sam got in trouble for foolin' around:)

The last hike on leaving day:(. It was a fabulous trip!We highly recommend Sedona and can't wait to go back!

Goodbye!

Maggie's Swim Lessons

Maggie tried swimming lessons last summer and was terrified. This year we put her in with Miss Campbell where Sam and Sophie both took lessons. She LOVED it!! She wanted to be first for every dive and swim and was sorely disappointed when it was time to get out. Like father like daughter:).

Sam's First Concert

Sam and his fellow music students put on an end of the year concert on Thursday. They sounded great! It was fun to hear all of the year's learning and efforts come together.

This is Sam and his best friend, Isaac Lee. They are so cute together. They get so excited to see each other and be together. I'm so glad he has such a good friend.

Seth, another friend, Sam and Isaac.

Easy Come, Easy Go...

Even though she's gone, we thought we'd post a pic of the puppy. She was cute but most of us are relieved that she is gone. It was a good lesson for all of us. Someday.....

Maggie's Latest.....

Pictures from Maggie's 3 year old (okay, okay 3 1/2, so I'm a little late) photo session:).
