Soccer Season has Begun!

Well, it's that time of year-soccer season! Sophie is starting her third year and this is Maggie's first year. Sophie has practice twice a week but Maggie just practices right before the game. Our Saturdays are now pretty busy, but it's fun to watch them play.

It's been fun to see Maggie. We didn't know what she would be like on the field. But she seems to be having a great time and really enjoys it. She can be pretty aggressive and loves to volunteer to do the throw in or kicks. They are just so cute at this age, they run and packs and often kick into the wrong goal.

Sophie's team is the Sting Rays! She has a really great team this year. They are more serious at this age group with official referees and scorekeeping. The pressure is on!

She's a good little player though not too aggressive. She sometimes just enjoys watching the game and forgets that she's supposed to be playing!:) She'd rather be catching lizards. (for real, she is obsessed with that right now)

Maggie's First Day

Maggie's official first day was Wednesday. We walked to school and they keep all the kids outside on the wall until everyone has arrived. She was pretty shy and quiet. But it's nice because she has two church friends in her class, Logan Hunter and Spencer McLendon.

The official walk in. That's her teacher, Mrs. Brown. They wouldn't allow parents to walk in with them. I expected to be pretty emotional, but I have to admit I was pretty excited to have some time to myself!

Maggie is 5!

After we got Sam & Soph off to school and left Maggie's kindergarten orientation meeting decided to have a birthday lunch with our friends Jane & Sophie-Claire Posner. Maggie chose to go Island's. Jane & I had a good time except.....the girls got a little crazy and Maggie ended up in tears but hey, it's her party and she'll cry if she wants to!

The tears went away when they brought out an ice cream sundae and we sang Happy Birthday-whew!
Later that night we had a little celebration with cake, ice cream and presents. We invited the Posners over because a party isn't the same without friends!:)

5 candles, blow!

No party is complete without a pinata. It was a pink poodle. We didn't have daddy to hold it up for us, so the kids took turns throwing it on the ground. It was a little cruel and the kids enjoyed it a little too much, but they got results!
It was a fun night and a great day, but I was SO ready for it to be over!

First Day of School!

September 2nd was an exciting day. It was the first day of school and Maggie's 5th birthday. This year we have 3 different school schedules which could mean 6 different trips to school a day!

So Sophie was first up for the day. School starts at 7:45 for her. Her new teacher is Mr. Hammons and she has her best friend Amanda in her class this year, yay!

Sam was next up....school starts at 8:45 now that he is a middle school-er-ahh! Though I wanted to take him, he wanted to walk to school with his friends Isaac and Andre. But I snuck on campus just long enough to catch a couple of pics and help him find his homeroom class.

Maggie just had a kindergarten orientation that day at 9:00 for about an hour. So her real first day was the next day.

Boo Boo for Birthday

Chris took the kids to the park Sunday night and the girls were on a big teeter totter. Maggie decided she wanted to get off so Sam went over to pull her off just as Sophie was jumping down. So.....of course it banged Maggie right in the eye.
So wanting to be careful and just make sure she didn't need stitches, Chris took her to the Emergency Room. Three hours later she came home with a Band-Aid. I guess you just can't be too sure and hey Maggie got 3 hours alone time with Daddy. You can't beat that either.:)

Celebrating Maggie

Chris was able to be home with us for part of the day Monday before he had to leave again for Chicago. Since it was Maggie's birthday the next day we decided to celebrate while dad was still with us. Maggie decided she wanted to go to Downtown Disney and have lunch at the Rainforest Cafe.

They brought out a huge volcano cake and sang Happy Birthday and then we all chowed down, Yum!

Aren't they cute? The nurse at the hospital said "Wow, she looks just like you!" to Chris.

Next stop, Build-A-Bear Workshop to get the High School Musical bear she's been waiting for.Then Maggie rang a bell and the they announced her birthday to the whole store and then sang to her. It was so fun.
The hardest part was leaving that and driving strait to the airport to drop daddy off. But we're so glad we got some extra time with him. Chris was also able to give the kids (and me!) Dad's blessings for the new school year and that was a really neat experience.

Arrow of Light

Sam worked really hard as a Webelo and earned his Arrow of Light award! It is the highest rank you can receive as a Cub Scout. He has now officially graduated Cub Scouts and become a Boy Scout! We are so proud of him and all that he has accomplished.Sister Smith handing Sam his arrow.
