Sedona '08

The day after school got out we were off on a two week vacation-whooo hooo!! It started with a Roberts reunion in Sedona, AZ courtesy of Grandma & Grandpa (thank you!). Sedona is one of our favorite places. We would get a second home there if we could (I guess you need a first home first?:). It was a wonderful, relaxing time and fun too!

The days were spent on a major hike and then back to the condo for a much deserved swim! Since I was pregnant and sicky, Chris let me sit out the hikes and I got to relax and have alone time. A rarity since he's gone during the week. It was so nice, I even went and had a pedicure. Now that's a vacation for me:).

The kids favortie part is cousin time. Here hiking with Isaac and Cambria.

Grandma and Grandpa did an awesome FHE on ancestors and gave each of us family history notebooks. And reminded their grandchildren that they are GRAND children with these cute shirts! They say I am a Grand Child.

Slide rock is always a favorite. There is a nature-made water slide and great cliff diving action. Our kids spent a typical day there for each of them.

Sophie the nature girl spent the day catching fish and tadpoles.

Sam was hesitant about trying anything and just hung out most of the day. Until he finally saw that it might be fun and decided to try things out. Then he just LOVED it and didn't want to leave.

Maggie was up for it all and wanted to jump in and try everything! The girl just wants to have fun.

Chris as usual did things he really should not do. But is that going to stop him- no! Here is a huge jump a day before he had to have surgery on his hand for a mountain biking accident. Oi vey.

Maggie chillin' with the girls....Eliza, Maya and Aryn.
It was a great trip and so nice to be with everybody, we miss you!! Love you!!!

Dance Recitals

The last week of school also included 3 dance rehearsals and 3 dance recitals! It was a bit of a stressful week, but it all came out okay and the girls were beautiful!

The first night was Maggie's ballet performance.

Sophie and Lainey Westfall
The next night was Sophie's first performance and a tap dance to "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy". The crowd loved it.

The last night was Sophie's ballet performance.

Sophie and her friends, Sara Jayne Affleck, Chloe Posner, Amanda Miller, and Lainey Westfall.

Last Day of School

The last day of school was a crazy one! First stop to Maggie's preschool graduation. This is Mags with her favorite teacher helper, Mrs. Nixon. She had even named a stuffed animal after her.

Next stop, the second grade had field day! I was out taking pics of Sophie and her friends on a very hot day.

This was Sophie's best friend this year, Maddi.

And Sophie's awesome teacher, Mrs. Laroche. It was a great year.

Last stop, Sam had a 5th grade "advancement ceremony". They all got an elementary school advancement certificate into middle school. Man, that's a hard one for me.

Sam's fantastic teacher, Mrs. McManigal.

Busy June

Maggie's right of passage....she had her kindergarten check-up that included 3 shots and a finger prick-ouch! She did awesome with no tears shed. She was actually excited about the whole thing.

June 7th was Chris's birthday!! Happy birthday honey! We had an under the sea theme for our awesome ocean swimmer.

In lieu of cake, Chris wanted a banana cream pie-yum!

The girls "helped" him open presents.

Tyr was having a big sale so he got a bunch of swimming gear and the kids got new goggles too.

It's the end of the school year and the kids had their open house where they get to show us everything they made this year. This is Sophie's report on Walt Disney.

This is Sam standing near his artwork in the classroom.

Sam had his end of the year violin concert. They sounded awesome! He will continue to play in Middle School next year.

Sam with Isaac his best friend and violin buddy. Some people call them twins because they look (?) and act so much alike.

On to the Spring Piano recital. Sophie played a solo , "Ladybug Boogie" and then a duet of "Witer Waltz" with classmate Brenna. They did so great!

And Sam played "Rock Around the Clock" in a duet with his Russian instructor, Irina. He was awesome.

Happy Father's Day!!! After church we went to LAX to pick up my parents after a 3 week trip to New Zealand visiting my aunt. It was so nice to have my hubby and my dad for Father's Day.
We love you!!!

Catch-up

Haven't blogged in a while...thought I'd catch up on our busy-ness.:)

Sam had his last Pinewood Derby. His car was a Wii remote. We thought it was pretty cool. Was it a winner, nah, but it was still fun.

They're home!! After 18 months on a mission in Spain, my parents are home. The girls and I picked them up at LAX a couple of weeks ago (the boys were at Father/Sons). It was a nice reunion. They have been with us for a few weeks then they are heading to New Zealand for a few weeks, then who knows!?

Sophie got baptized! Her baptism was on May 10th and it was such a nice day. Grandma and Grandpa Roberts came from Albuquerque and Brookie & Dave came down from Mountain View. It was fun to have a mini family reunion. Thanks for coming!

It was a bright, sunny day so half of us are blind.
The grandmas both gave awesome talks and the grandpas said the prayers and were the witnesses. It would not have been the same without them. Thank you!

The girl of the day with Grandma & Grandpa Roberts.

This last weekend my parents had their homecoming in their ward and then we had an open house at my house afterward. It was another nice day and my brothers both came down to visit. But sadly I took no pictures! It was great having them here though.

My last bit of news in case you have not heard- I'm pregnant!! Yes, we were as surprised as you are. Not planned, though we are pretty excited. I found out my due date is Christmas Eve. That's the point where I broke down, I'm just hoping to avoid being in the hospital on Christmas. But I know that doesn't always work (right Sara?:) I'm am feeling pretty miserable right now. And because of my ripe old age of 35, I am considered AMA (advanced maternal age) and therefore high risk. I've never felt so old than on that first doctor visit! This too shall pass!:)

Sophie's Spring Fling!

Our kids have friend birthday parties every other year and this was Sophie's year! Plus she turned 8 which is an even bigger deal:). So we decided to have a Spring Fling! Soph loves the outdoors and nature and it's Spring so we thought it worked well. She was only allowed 8 friends and it was just right.

First the girls decorated their goody bags with their name and flowers.

Then we had hidden over 200 fake plastic bugs all over the yard and we had a bug scavenger hunt! I thought the girls would be squeamish, but they loved it. We are still finding random bugs today.

The party girls!

Can't have a party without a pinata, those girls can hit!

We had a hula hoop contest and other outdoor games. They were good!

Present time! Sara Jayne gave her a snow cone maker. Which turned out to be the hit of the party! We ended up making snow cones for everyone.

Also a favorite still- Webkinz. Man Soph can't get enough of these things.

Chloe gave her an awesome grown up art set and canvas.

Mom and the birthday girl.

Sophie and her best-est school friend, Maddi.

Make a wish!Sophie's BFF, Amanda Miller.
It was a fun party, I know Sophie enjoyed it, I'm just glad it's over:).
